Lean Ni Chuilleanain is <<...documenting a web application... The
screen contains a number of tabs labelled according to the different
states a document can be in (pending, approved, etc.).Above the
tabs is a list of totals - total documents in the system, and a
breakdown by tab. It is this list that I want to name (as in "the total
number of documents in each tab is indicated on the XXX").>>

How about "the summary section [of the screen]"? In effect, you
should pick a name based on what you're providing for the reader:
in this case, that's a summary.

<<The best I can come up with is "Statistics Display"...>>

"Statistics" always brings to mind a university course that scares
off anyone but a mathematician, so it's probably not the best word
to use for just about any general audience.
