A couple of funny experiences:

- While interviewing for a technical support position, I asked
a candidate, "What do you like best about Technical Support?"
His (rather disgusted) response: "What is there to like?"

(Next question: "What are you doing here?")

- A tech writer claimed on his resume to be a FrameMaker guru.
During a phone interview I mentioned that I was interested in
his Frame experience, because our documentation uses certain
Frame features heavily, such as cross-referencing and condi-
tional text. His response was that he was pretty good with
conditional text, but had never done cross-referencing.

- A writer brought a briefcase and a piece of carry-on luggage
full of samples to the interview. He spread all the samples
out on the table when we started the interview, and every time
I asked a question, he dug out a sample and handed it to me
(without explaining how it answered my question). During the
entire interview, he said probably 20 words.

This same person, the morning his recruiter informed him we
had filled the position, had called SIX TIMES by the time I
got to work. I called his recruiter, who called the candidate
and told him to lay off. So he sent me e-mail.
