Re: FrameMkr question-formats
If it's only one format, just use the paragraph designer to redefine a format in one of your existing files in the book and then import the formats of that file into all of the others. Any other method will take just as long as simply manually redefining a single format.
That would be a mistake. How do you know that:
1. One or more paragraph formats in the existing file you suggest be the import source have been modified, and these modifications ought not to be propagated?
2. One or more paragraph formats in the existing file you suggest be the import source have been added, but these formats ought not be propagated to other files?
3. Other files in the book have needed modifications to some paragraph formats, and these modifications must be preserved?
The method you propose would:
a. Apply the unwanted modified paragraph formats described in 1 above to all instances of those tags in all files of the book.
b. Add the unwanted new paragraph formats described in 2 above to the paragraph catalogs of all files of the book.
c. Remove the needed format modifications described in 3 above from all instances of those paragraphs in all files the book.
The surrogate template approach which I suggested in my earlier post on this thread guarantees there will be no such unintended (and perhaps catastrophic) consequences.
