I recently checked this book out of the library, and it's great-- Janet Ruhl
pulls no punches in explaining the nitty-gritty of computer contracting. I
find it totally applicable to TWs in the IT industry. The title is Janet
Ruhl's Answers for Computer Contractors (ISBN 0-9647116-2-1). She also has
a site up at http://www.realrates.com that she pitches heavily throughout
the book. I don't think the $25 to download the report there is worthwhile
for TWs, since we have access to more specific statistics from the STC, but
the book is still great if you're contracting or considering contracting,
incorporating, or making some other move in that direction.
