Thanks, Susan, but...

1. I need it for a commercial use -- formatting some XML samples in a manual

for my employer. So XML NotePad is out.

2. I looked at CNET for freeware and tried EditML. It does save XML files
with tabs -- LOTS of tabs. Guess I'll look at other freeware XML
editors.

You may already know this but...

If you open a messy XML file in Microsoft's XML notepad it is saved as a
beautifully formatted file... I suspect that ALL XML editors do the same.
Maybe FrameMaker does it, too!?

...

There are many other free XML editors though.
