Kevin McLauchlan has <<...a doc in FrameMaker 6. The format of all chapters
is 8.5 x 11 inches. One Appendix contains 15 schematic sheets, all on 11 x
17 (and rotated 90 degrees...). What's the best way to get this into ONE
PDF? Just printing and distilling the whole book from FrameMaker results in
the 8.5 x 11 format prevailing over the single 11 x 17 chapter, and
truncating all the schematics in the resulting PDF.>>

I've seen similar documents, so I know they can be created. Best bet might
be a very simple kludge: distill all the 8.5x11 pages first, then distill
the 11x17 pages in a second pass. Then use Acrobat (or Exchange, if you've
got an earlier version) to insert the larger pages at the appropriate
positions. Voila!

what activities the user wants to accomplish, and translating the often
idiosyncratic and unplanned design into something that appears to make
sense."--Donald Norman, The Invisible Computer
