I seem to remember this, although since I read the original post, the brain
has been mulling this over and over again. I seem to remember this bit
though.

That sounds like an artifact of Windows 3.1. I used to have a reference
guide that described all those things, but it's long gone. Maybe if you
can find a Microsoft Windows 3.1 reference manual or a knock-off, it
will help describe it.
