Hi Max,

I wanted to say almost exactly this. May be I wrote too much, so it was
confusing.

But: If you do not have a native speaker, it may help to understand, if you
consider the restrictions.
If there is no native speake, a speaker who knows it as second language,
must do.
There are also a lot of translators who translate from and into many languages.

The goal is: to understand each other through the language barriers.

Translation Memories are good, especially for technical writing.

I did not "translate" this text here, but wrote it in English, although it
is not my native tongue.

Another question: If there is a native speaker without knowledge on the
area you are writing for, the result may be even worser as the result of
translation software.
This is because the result is nonsense.

My father sometimes retranslated texts which were translated from Russian
to German by German native speaker, but they translated horribly wrong,
they did not know the meaning of the words and translated literally.
For example: Floppy Disk would become "wabblige Scheibe", the proper
translation now is "Floppy Disk" (became a German word) or "Diskette"

Best regards
Bernd
