I would suggest proceeding in the same manner as you would for anything
else you'd like to try. Three words in particular come to mind: just do
it.
For aricles, generate your own ideas and submit query letters to
magazine editors in line with the guidelines published in Writers Market
and whatever information you can get directly from the magazine itself.
Review the magazines for ideas on content and writing style.
You already have the most important skill - writing ability. Even more
specialized areas of writing are open to you if you choose to pursue
them. I have a friend who writes articles for very specialized medical
journals. He has no technical or scientific training, but has excellent
writing and research skills - he spends time in the library or on the
phone to specialists to get the information he needs to write his
articles. Courses and training can be helpful but in the end you have to
actually research and write something, so you might as well start there.
