David,

Here a workaround that might help you:

1. Select File, Page Setup.
2. Click the Layout tab.
3. In the Headers and Footers block, make sure Different odd and even is
checked.
4. In the Apply to list, select Whole Document.
5. Click OK.
6. Select View, Headers and Footers.
7. Use tabs to place your page numbers where you want them on the even and
odd pages.
