Does Robert Pirsig's "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" count?
This was a sort of a didactic novel cum philosophical ramblings about
Quality -- close enough? Pirsig was a technical writer as he explains in
the novel and in an afterword in one edition.
