I'd say to embed the field in its caption like this:

Before previous <field> days

Within previous <field> days

Within next <field> days

After next <field> days

Does this help? It might require some ToolTip documentation.

Subject: Field Names

Hi, guys...

One of the developers here came to me asking for my advice on what to
call four fields for a new function in the application GUI. Since
they all involve variations of a similar concept, they need to
"resemble" each other, be two words (three at most), yet their
differences in meaning clear without too much "brain-effort".

The four fields are involved with a notification process for renewing
things (passwords, contracts, invoices, etc.)

The fields indicate the following concepts:

Within the next N days
(User wants to see all contracts that will expire within the next 30

Within the past N days
(User wants to see all contracts that expired within the last 14

After the next N days
(User wants to see all contracts that have more than 60 days to be

Before the previous N days
(User wants to see all contracts that were received before the past
30 days grace period)

Anyone work woith something like this before?
