My 13-year-old son prefers to communicate online this way. He can write
very well indeed, and he does so where required and for his own personal
work. However, he says communicating the way described above is faster,
and as a side benefit, it makes it harder for spy programs like Project
Echelon and Carnivore to tap his communications.
