Number of tech writers?

I heard a couple of weeks ago that someone had estimated a shortage of
200,000 tech writers this year or next. I can't remember the source, but
could use the quote if I can find a source. Anybody know?

Also, has anyone seen a figure for the number of tech writers in the USA
other than STC's estimate on their Web site?
