The point was that newbie type posts are generally not opinions, or
"requests for praise", but queries for help. There is no call for posters to
be blasted just because they happen to make the same query as was made a
couple of weeks previously, or because they haven't checked the archive or
web first. Either reply and politely point them at resources that could help
(archive, web, etc.) or delete the post.

I appreciate that discussions in here often become somewhat heated and
opinionated, but this should not be the response to a gentle enquiry.
