It is in the interests of this group to remain calm and professional, even compassionate, with each other.

I used to belong to another list where a bunch of boys got into a series of nasty debates and arguments. It went on and on despite remonstrations from members. The result was that all the women left the list, one by one, even though the conflicts had nothing to do with putting women down or that sort of stuff. They just didn't feel like it was a safe place to post.

I can only imagine the number of civilized men who were turned off the list as well.
