The STC did a comparative survey/study on technical professional
associations and concluded that the value for money was a by-far better
investment than other associations. I couldn't find that document on the STC
site any more, but at the time was struck by how the economy of scale allows
STC to provide more.

That testimonial still doesn't mean anyone should join STC; look, compare,
then decide.
