When I was marketing myself for a new position a year ago, I was often asked
during phone interviews by headhunters to list how many months of experience
I had on different software tools, for example, Word, Frame, Acrobat, and
RoboHelp. They also often asked the last time I used each tool or the
version number.

If I am in the market in the future, I might prepare a software skills
matrix that is available by request or include it at the end of my resume.

At the end of my resume, I list all the software that I have a
familiarity and I list them in order of strength.

I tell them that this is the way I've done it.

The beginning of the list is SW that was my primary SW at a contract.
By the time you get to the end of the list, I used it enough to open
a file in the application, make a change, and save a new version.
