Regarding Kathi DeGuzman's post on TW jobs--how to choose:

All that for her first tech writing job? Her options were an established
software company or an ecommerce startup...With all due respect, there's no
way I would recommend for anyone's FIRST tech writing job to even consider
an ecommerce startup...too much of a learning curve that Internet time
doesn't allow for. If you've never worked in a startup environment
(particularly ecommerce), you can't realize how hectic, demanding,
ambiguous, frustrating, and unforgiving it can be...even for experienced
technical communicators...
