I disagree; I think that if you know there's a difference, then in your professional work, and if it doesn't take significantly more effort, you should take care to choose the MOST appropriate word. (And since there is a wide selection of dictionaries available at the click of a button, determining which of two possible words to use usually requires little effort.)

But you put the opposing position so beautifully that you've convinced me. Or, is that persuaded me?
