GuruNet on-line dictionary, thesaurus, etc.) has a link to "The Great
Abbreviations Hunt - a searchable dictionary of terms relating to different
three letter abbreviations". GuruNet is also great for finding info about
acronyms. When I typed in a few abbreviations, (such as std.), GuruNet gave
me an acronym and a button called "Alternates" which listed, among choices
such as sexually transmitted diseases, the info that std. was the abbr. for
Standard.

Susan Gallagher wonders: <<Does anyone know of a good list of standard
abbreviations, preferably online.
