Here at IDe, all features to our products are designed by cross-functional
teams (which include tech writers). As part of these feature teams, writers
are involved in taking the preliminary product ideas and fleshing them out
into both functional specs as well as detailed design and technical specs.
Since we are so involved in the actual product design, the specs themselves
are of lesser importance. They make it easy to look things up, but as far as
getting the information, that happens more in meetings than from strictly
reading the specs.

Given your current projects, how valuable are product
design documents or specifications?

* Extremely: Specs are my only source of information
* Very: Specs are a key source of information
* Moderately: Specs are sometimes useful
* Not Very: Specs are rarely informative
* Not at All: What specs? They do not exist here
* Other/none of the above
