Thanks to everyone who responded. I originally wrote "affect" and was
bloody edited (injustly - poor me...). So I needed the concensus of my
fabulous friends out there in Techwhirler land.

I will always remain affected by the effect of my posted question...

I think the choice is "affect."

"Affect" is generally linked to performing an action .
. . in this case, canceling. "Effect" usually refers
to a result, instead of an action.

Then there's trying to decide if it's "canceling" or
"cancelling." *grin*
