One other thing I might include... Resources for finding professional
technical writers. And maybe an explanation of what it is that a
technical writer does - how good docs actually *save* money in reduced
tech support load, etc. Look, if an imbecile can be president of the US
(not necessarily a reference to the current situation), it's because he
can amass a reasonably competent cabinet, all idiology aside. Likewise
a manager. Help your new manager to see the big picture, and to assume
a sense of care for whatever resources (er, people) she/he has at
present.
