Pressing Ctrl+A, F9 does update fields in the headers and footers if you're in
Normal view. (Wierd, because you can't see them in Normal view, but that's how
it is.)

Note that, in Page Layout view, pressing Ctrl+A doesn't select the headers and
footers, so pressing F9 isn't going to update any fields they contain.
