One correction to the course Emily proposes:

Don't believe "Soul of a New Machine." I worked at Data General during the
period covered by that book. It paints far too romantic and cozy a picture
of what it was like!

In a lot of ways, things *have* gotten better since then. For one thing, DG
no longer exists as a corporation. ;) But here I am writing last-minute
release notes (not even someething sexy like API stuff) on a Snowy, Sleety
Sunday morning, subsisting on *free coffee* (one of the perks DG didn't
have) and hoping the slop outside melts by the time I crawl out of here!

I do agree that if you're going to be writing documentation for programmers,
you darn well better know something about programming!

Now back to the snow... uh, Release Notes!
