I know many people will tell
you
that job hunting is a full-time job, but don't worry yourself silly about
finding a new job. Both times I've been laid off, it's turned out to be the
best thing that could have happened; I just didn't know it at the time.

<further snippage>

This is fine while you have money in the bank or someone else in the household who can support you. If you're your own sole means of support, and you have not been "provident" as my father reminded me, job search is not something you can flip off. It can take three weeks to get a job, from first interview to start date, and another 2 weeks to get a pay check.

I don't know about anyone else, but there were jobs all over the place in the L.A. asrea at the end of last year. Now there's almost nothing. Last week I did get something all at once, more or less over night, but only after weeks of hunting. And I still won't see a check till Wednesday.

Not trying to scare you, just pointing out that not everyone has the liberty of going to the beach. It's a good time to learn a new tool, but not (as far as I'm concerned) to leave the house.
