hi guys, i am a new member of the listserve and read your comments daily. i
also happen to be one of those students who got the shaft when it comes to
being taught the importance of good gramatical skills and being able to recite
usage rules or defend my editing. i've made it all the way through college
using "their" as a pronoun, and it was accepted. so my question is, how would
any of you improve this sentence and aviod using "their" and "they"?

"Whoever is elected President of Peru, he or she will have their work
cut out for them."

thanks for your expertise-
rebekah
