You know, this discussion is interesting, but it seems too theoretical.
So, I'd like to ask:

Pro-certification or anti, does anyone expect it to happen in the next
five years?

I suggest it won't, because:

a.) A vocal group - whether a majority or a minority - opposes the idea.
Another large group is indifferent to the idea.

b.) No organization exists that is capable of organizing certification
or of reinventing itself as a governing body for the profession.
