Well, if it's my project, and I've just met with the development team who agree that there are problems, then you're not really stepping on anyone's toes. If the previous writer asks for an explanation, just tell him either



1) The truth. After all, he should know that his work wasn't what was expected. Giving him an overview of what was "wrong" - using tact, of course - might make his next project better.



2. An evasion. The customer's needs have changed, and the documentation has to change to fit those needs.
