:: Then I started looking for a job. I searched for over 9
:: months, hitting the job boards, networking with STC,
:: endlessly sending out resumes, et cetera. Almost every job
:: ad asked for FrameMaker knowledge. Because it wasn't on my
:: resume, I didn't get a call back.

You show me a newbie with FrameMaker experience and I'll show you someone
who *THINKS* they know FrameMaker. I've used it for years, and I'm STILL
learning new things along the way.

No, a new writer, a newbie, should NOT be expected to have any substantial
real-world knowledge. Any company looking for an entry-level writer with
specific experience, whether tool or industry, is either delusional or
cheap.
