You're absolutely right.

However, billing to fix someone else's errors is fair game.

BTW, since making that mistake, I've kept my Windows screen colours as
the standard colour scheme--just to avoid stupid mistakes like that.
Spending time fixing mistakes--whether or hourly rates or fixed term
contracts--is a lot less lucrative than doing original work correctly
the first time.
