One doc that decides your fate? And a review team who is mainly taking a
subjective stance? Ewww...

I don't think I can be of much help here, but here's some alternate advice.
;)

You may get several responses echoing the TECHWR-L employment drum "get out!
run away!" ;) I say stick it out (as the doc needs to be written), but also
look into other options while you're there. Do good work, collect a
paycheck, and keep your eyes open. Then, should the axe fall, you'll have a
positive reaction.
