I remember reading in Adobe's documentation for Acrobat a suggestion to use the 8.3 naming convention (that is, 8 characters before the dot and a three character -- PDF -- extension). Reference was made to the compliance to DOS file naming conventions, if memory serves me.

[rustle, rustle, rustle...I'm looking for that quote...]

AHA -- I found the reference: (from Adobe's Knowledgebase)
"Naming PDF Files for Distribution
When creating PDF files for distribution over a network or via an e-mail system, keep in mind that many network and e-mail programs truncate long filenames. The safest way to name the PDF files you plan to distribute is with the MS-DOS filenaming convention (i.e., an eight-character filename followed by a three-character extension). "

I was wondering if any of you on the list have adopted policies on PDF
(or
other application) filenames that you would be willing to share. In
addition, does anyone know if Adobe has recommendations for length or
format
for PDF filenames? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
