TRAINING, Boston, MA: Localization Project Management Seminars

Dates: 27 June 2001, Localization Project Management; and 28 June 2001,
Advanced Localization Project Management. Cost: $795 each, group discounts
available.

Seminars presenter: Karen Combe

Localization Project Management will give new and experienced managers a
solid grounding in project management theory and practice. It will use
examples from the localization field and show the benefits of replacing a
highly individualized process with one that is standard, repeatable,
predictable and consistent. The ability of project managers on both the
vendor and the publisher side to manage projects well is of crucial
importance for the quality, cost, and timely delivery of localization
projects. Many localization project managers, however, have never had any
formal project management training, and Localization Project Management
will help provide that training.

In Advanced Localization Project Management, the presenter will examine
real-life case studies that demonstrate some of the most challenging
problems that localization project managers have to confront. The case
studies will be preceded by a presentation of some guidelines for
participants to keep in mind while they consider the situations at hand.
In order for seminar attendees to both externalize their own knowledge and
tap into their colleagues' experience, participants will break up into
small groups to consider and solve the problems presented in each case
study. Then, the presenter will guide a discussion of the conclusions
within the larger group to arrive at a synthesis of the issues and
solutions the participants can take away to apply to their everyday
management of projects.
