Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this one.

Doug Grossman asked: Does anyone know how to manipulate the second number in the
running-total page number thing? I'm using the autotext entry "Page x of y."

I've had a similar problem where my cover sheet has no page number, my TOC is
numbered i, ii, iii etc and my body document is numbered page x of y.

I considered doing the first page is -2 thing, but I was writing a template for
users creating documents that might be any size and I couldn't guarentee how
many pages their TOC would cover.

In the end I added a hidden bookmark called 'firstpages' just after the index,
then added the page numbering formula

Page {PAGE} of { = ({NUMPAGES} -1) - {PAGEREF firstpages \* Arabic
\*MERGEFORMAT}}

The \* Arabic is really important, otherwise Word doesn't know that 30 - iii is
27

When I open a document numbered this way Word sometimes decides to display the y
figure as a negative number, but it always clears up on print, or if you force
Word to update fields a couple of times.

This formula hasn't broken...

..yet.

Hope this helps,

Miriam
