The newsgroup "comp.text.tex" is also very friendly
and helpful. You don't say whether you need to learn
about TeX or LaTeX, so I won't recommend a book. It
will become clear to you what the difference between
the two are as you read more on TUG or comp.text.tex
(but basically LaTeX is a high level logical document
mark up system built on top of TeX which is a
lower-level typography engine. But you can mix the
levels up. And I'm oversimplifying slightly) :-)
