Beth Friedman observes: <<I think we're talking apples (not Apples) and
oranges here. The version of Garamond that ships with HP laser printers,
at least, is an antique version of Garamond. I know how pleased I was to
find it on my computer when I installed the new printer, and how
disappointed I was to find that it wasn't the font I'd been looking for,
though it's a nice enough font.>>

That's certainly true. Most popular fonts come in several styles, with each
type foundry interpreting the typeface slightly differently. About 5 years
ago, _Publish_ displayed something like 10 versions of Garamond side by
side, and it was amazing how much they differed. Each was recognizably
Garamond, but some were considerably better designed than others. Yet
another variable to account for.
