That's really too bad.

Acrobat 4 has been out for more than a year, a lifetime in software terms.
Besides, Acrobat Reader 4 will open PDFs created in Acrobat/Distiller 3.

If PDF is part of your workflow or business, shouldn't someone be interested
in this and keep up with what's going on. As for my customers and peers,
they are almost all at least on version 4, because I made sure our software
builds include the new version and because I communicate the updates. That
is, I know who is on version 4. Even if all of those I don't know about are
on version 3, it would be a minority.

Note, we are not on version 5. I have laid the groundwork for moving and
recommended a timeframe. But, we don't need to move yet and, when we do, I
will continue to create PDFs that are PDF 1.3 (Acrobat 4) compatible for as
long as 12 months. (Besides, encryption should be the only incompatibility.)

I recommend you keep a professional eye on your tools and workflow, so you
know about changes (such as Acrobat 4 and 5 coming out) even if you don't
use them right away.

Cheers,

Sean<Br>
