Questions: How skilled are you, as a technical writer, in using
the product you are currently writing about?

This was an easy question for me. Our software product involves no user
input, so anyone could be an expert :)

Our Internet product used to be very complicated. I tried to explain this
to the developers when I was hired, but they weren't ready to listen. After
a Usability study showed that the average user was taking 30 minutes to do
what should have been a two minute or less procedure, the interface was
totally changed. Now there are four steps that are numbered. Once again,
anyone can be an expert if they can read the numbers 1 through 4.
