Seriously, providing that the documents use styles consistently, this
requirement shouldn't take much time, and could make some difference.
And, even if it doesn't, file the request under "keeping the client
happy."

It's not the strangest request I've heard from a client. That
distinction goes to the one who insisted that the manual be done in MS
Words, in separate text frames on landscape paper. Of course, text flow
was impossible, pagination a nightmare, and styles wouldn't work inside
the additional text frames, but, when persuasion failed and
opportunities for blackmail didn't materialize, I held my tongue (bit
right through it, actually) and did things the client's way.
