I work with a technical publications department that reports to engineering.

The toughest thing about the whole mess is engineering tends to focus on
accuracy of content,
and usually, pubs are released by the marketing department, who are more
concerned with
presentation and possible liability issues, so be prepared to be caught in
the middle a lot.
