Before Hackos was known she probably did build a reputation within STC as a
presenter and writer. She has put in the years in STC unpaid. That is what
the STC is. It is a place to build your name and your practice. Hackos has
extended her practice and methodology to increase the value of her services.
Saul Carliner is doing the same thing now.

It's not enough to be known. Being known is a mean to an end. If you just
want to write, you probably don't need to be known.
