The better place to look for an answer to your question is
http://www.amwa.org
the web page for the American Medical Writers' Association.

Medical writing ranges from machinery (X-ray machines et al.) to the inserts for
for medicines and everything in between including health care. It, because it
can and does affect the health and well-being of fellow humans (but there the
field of the veterinarian medical writer), is under greater control and review
of medical professionals. It generally is not as driven by speed and
time-to-market and thorough testing is very, very important.
