There are and have been persistent rumors that Ventura is "dead": not
being supported by Corel, not available for purchase, etc. Let me
take a moment to dispel those rumors.

Corel's Ventura newsgroup is alive and well, with several dozen
messages posted and replied to every day.

If you can't find Ventura in your local computer store, it can be
purchased directly from Corel.

Most significantly:
There's an annual conference called CorelWorld, and though it's not
affiliated with Corel (it's put on by R. Altman Associates), some of
the keynote speakers this year are Derek Burney, President and CEO of
Corel Corp., and Kim Rotshtetter, Program Manager for Ventura
Publisher, as well as the Program Manger for CorelDRAW.

This year's conference, September 9-14 in Boston, has two hours
devoted to "The Future of Ventura, Part I" and "Part II".

The blurb for these two segments says:
"The most difficult thing has been keeping quiet about Corel's plans
for VENTURA. At the time of this writing, we are enjoined from
speaking about it, but there is an "it" that we are not allowed to
talk about. And we are devoting two sessions at CorelWORLD to..."it."
"

Ventura is not only alive and well, Corel says it has a future. And
reading between these and other lines, I strongly believe that there's
an upgrade in the works.
