Note your accomplishments and additional duties, note what you foresee in
your immediate future responsibility-wise, and ask for it. You may not get
it for whatever reason, but there's no harm in asking for it.
As for the 13% part, don't sweat it. I try to ignore % in negotiation - it
doesn't mean anything. You *should* be rewarded in hard numbers for your
good work, not in % of your current salary. Why? If you worked harder and
produced more than someone senior to you, and you got a 6% increase and the
senior a 4% increase, the senior may still have been rewarded better than
you. Rather, ask for the hard number increase. If you are currently making
$35k, asking for 13% might blow them away (for as far as %s go, 13 is high),
but asking for $4550 given more responsibility and the high-quality work
you've been doing, they may go for that number.
I dunno. I guess I just don't like percentages... they are misleading and
aren't truly reflective of your contributions to the company.
