I started a gig about two weeks ago. From DayOne of the gig, I needed
Visio 2001. I went online, ordered the software, gave them my credit
card. In effect, I paid for software I didn't have yet. I then
"borrowed" a copy, installed it, and used it for about 4 days. When
the copy that I bought, arrived, I installed it and overwrote the
"borrowed copy.

Is this "Dishonest today, honest tomorrow"?
