Yep, they recently switched to laptops at my old college too.

All with wireless Ethernet cards, and the entire campus is
rigged (inside and out) for access. So students can sit inside
a classroom, their dorm room, or out on the field, or by the
pool...

Why can't my employer be so forward thinking? :)
