I did open it with Acrobat v5.0.0, then saved as RTF. Got gibberish.

I just did it(save a PDF file as RTF) successfully using Acrobat 5.0. I know
that older versions of Acrobat sometimes puke when doing obscure functions.
Looks like the development team finally fixed THAT bug in 5.0
