One more suggestion is to ask the developers you work with what kind of
SDKs they may have found useful in the past.

I got thrown into a similar project with equally little preparation, and
got some great insight from some programmers (as shocking as that concept
is). They were very helpful in defining what it is that a programmer (the
audience) is looking for in this kind of document.
